The project
The Art of Opinion Writing is a Columbia+ course guided by Jelani Cobb, Dean of Columbia Journalism School. Across five modules, it explores how to choose a subject, develop a focused argument, revise with an editor’s eye, and pitch a finished piece.
Designed for a public-facing audience, the course connects writing craft with a practical editorial process: developing a point of view, shaping the piece, and preparing it for publication.
